Goals:
  • Explore Sources of Strength and its philosophy and mission.
  • Describe the core elements of Sources of Strength (Peer Leaders, Adult Advisors, The Wheel).
  • Learn the next steps for program implementation (Adult Advisor Training, Peer Leader Training, Sources Peer Leader Sessions, Multi-Tiered School Messaging).
Description: Sources of Strength is a youth-led, adult-facilitated program which seeks to create community wellness by shifting cultural norms through student-created social messaging campaigns. It creates deeper social connections and increases help-seeking behavior amongst youth. Due to its effectiveness as a suicide prevention program, the first three years of implementation is funded by the Oregon Health Authority. Liz Thorne from Matchstick Consulting will be providing the overview of the OHA and Sources of Strength connection.
