Number Talks for K-12

Goals:
  • Learn the components and benefits of implementing the instructional routine Number Talks.
  • Collaboratively plan Number Talks that you can implement right away.
Description:

Number Talks are a five to 15-minute classroom conversations around purposefully crafted math problems that are solved mentally. This routine supports teachers in understanding how to follow students’ thinking and how to pose questions to build understanding. It also supports students in developing fluency, reasoning, communication and number sense. Books provided for participants - additional books available for purchase at $60.

Lunch: No lunch will be provided.

Notes:

Session requires 20 participants to run.

Three follow-up sessions from 4:00-5:30PM on:

  • Tuesday, April 10
  • Tuesday, May 1
  • Tuesday, June 5

*UO Graduate credit may be available for additional cost

All participants will be provided a certificate for PDUs based on the training hours.
