Health Science Summer Academy

Place: Lane Community College Main Campus, Health Professions, BLDG 30
Presenter: Alicia Langlois, BA, CNA, CPT and LCC Health Professions Adjunct Professor
Audience: Oregon health sciences teachers
Capacity: 30 participants

  1. Gain experience teaching at the college level through exploratory sessions that include talks, multimedia presentations, and various group activities.
  2. Collaborate with peers to create functional high school lesson plans that articulate to college courses.
  3. Bonus workshop by dynamic presenter: Mark Perna, CEO, Tools for Schools

Summer Academy is a 50-hour professional development series that will count towards the industry-experience hours required for CTE industry-based licensure and endorsement. Credit for coordinated career learning experience is granted based on a 3:1 ratio in which every one hour of coordinated career related learning experience counts as three hours of industry experience/150 hours!

Stipend: $1,000 and health science teaching tool valued at $600

Must attend all five days. Lodging and per diem!

Lunch: Lunch will be provided.
Prerequisites: Oregon high school health science teachers
