Studying Skillful Teaching - Module 2: Essential Elements of Unit/Lesson Design

Audience: This course is applicable for teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators.

Goals:
  • Apply the "areas of performance," "repertoire," and "matching" to planning, objectives, formative assessment, criteria for success, and protocols for analyzing student work
  • Expand/refresh your repertoire of teaching strategies especially activators, summarizers, and explanatory devices
  • Construct feedback that triggers student thinking
Description:

This module is designed to strengthen teachers' convictions about students' ability to learn and their instructional capacity for promoting all students' motivation, learning, and achievement. There will be opportunities for individual and collegial reflection around decisions that impact student motivation, learning, and achievement.

Lunch: No lunch will be provided.
Prerequisites: Module 1 is a prerequisite for all additional modules.
Notes:

One hour U of O graduate credit available, $100.00, or participants will be provided a certificate for PDUs based on the training hours. Credit registration information provided on first day of training.
