Registration for Lane County Teacher Substitutes

Office Hours

By Appointment Only

For more information email:

Lane ESD maintains a list of approved substitute teachers on behalf of Lane County school districts, with the exception of Eugene 4J, Springfield, South Lane and Siuslaw School Districts. To apply to be a substitute teacher in these districts you must contact these districts directly.

In order to substitute you must have a valid Oregon Teaching License. Oregon teacher licensure requirements are available at Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).

An overview of the process and other information is located in the Lane County Teacher Substitutes Q & A.

Substitute Registration

The registration process is for licensed teachers who have not previously registered, who have been removed from the teacher substitute list or who wish to expand the district preferences.

There are two registration periods for the 2013-2014 school year:

  • September 9, 2013 through September 20, 2013
  • January 27, 2014 through February 21, 2014

Registration involves three steps.

  1. Online application

Note: When listing work history information, list only paid education employment. Do not include volunteer work or student teaching.

Public access computers are available at Lane ESD for individuals who do not have home Internet access to complete the online application.

  1. Required training

Within 7-10 days of completing the Lane County Teacher Substitute application, individuals will receive an email notification from Public School Works. The initial notification provides information on account set up including username and password and should be retained for future use. The second email will indentify the specific trainings you are required to complete and associated timelines.

  1. Appointment to show proof of identification and issue substitute card.

Individuals will be contacted to schedule an appointment after training accounts are set up.
