Welcome!
The Eugene Japanese American Art Memorial commemorates the sacrifices of those who suffered wartime internment and celebrates the contributions Japanese Americans have made to the civil rights we all share. The City of Eugene, Oregon authorized the construction of the memorial on public property on the Hult Center grounds, very close to the site where Japanese Americans were required to register prior to their forced journeys to camps in the western United States. A public dedication was held on February 19, 2007. Go to The Memorial to learn more.
About the websiteThis website was created as part of Lane Education Service District's Teaching American History Grant Program. Along with information about the memorial, Lane County teachers Brian Gulka and Shane Mast have collected video interviews with those involved with the memorial and others who experienced internment.
