Copyright Guidelines

Copyright laws enable those who create literature, music, art, software and other works to receive just compensation. The existence of these laws also encourages new works. Lane ESD seeks to provide an outstanding model of appropriate values and ethics in supporting and encouraging adherence to copyright laws.

"Lane ESD Copyright Guidelines" (see below to download a copy) answers most of the questions that arise in the classroom setting. Though copyright interpretations do change from time to time based on legal rulings, common sense is a great ally in applying “fair use” and other guidelines. Please be aware the publication provides basic information and guidance on copyright law. For specific interpretations or for areas not covered in the guide, the assistance of a qualified attorney may be required. However, the Lane ESD Copyright Officer can address questions concerning the content of the guide.
