| DESCRIPTION |
REI has a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and
promoting responsible recreation, especially with youth. These values are
grounded in our company's history, culture and future.
As part of this commitment, and in partnership with the Leave No Trace
Center for Outdoor Ethics, REI has developed the PEAK
(Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids)
program. The goal of this program is to educate children about the
outdoors and teach responsible use of our public lands. Through hands-on,
interactive activities children are taught to have fun outside while
keeping their impact to a minimum.
Through interactive activities, games, and discussions, REI employees
teach kids about the environment, outdoor recreation, and the seven
principles of Leave No Trace. This
free environmental outreach program allows REI employees to share our
passion and enthusiasm for the outdoors with kids. This program is
offered by REI as part of our ongoing commitment to community outreach
and environmental stewardship. |
