- FreePlay Music — Free music educators/students can use in education-related multimedia projects. More royalty free music resources.
- Songs for Teaching: The Definitive Source for Educational Music—This collection contains information on songs appropriate for teaching K-12 content through the use of music. Lyrics and in some cases, sound files, are available. Links to books and CDs are also included.
- Sing Along Songs from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)—Created as a tool for motivating students to learn to read and write, this site contains lyrics and MIDI files catagorized by title as well as by the following categories: Children's, Patriotic, Favorites, Movies/Musicals, and Holidays/Sounds.
- Historical Music
- Public Domain Music — Contains music organized by composer, era, song style, etc.
- John Roache's Ragtime Piano MIDI Library
- Popular Songs In American History Web site — American Folk and Traditional Music with Lyrics, MIDI Files, tune information and history behind the folk songs and ballads. Folk songs arranged by time period. (Good historical information, however songs are not available at this time.)
- DAPS Lyrics — You can search by song title, lyric phrase, artist, etc. Contains lyrics from the 1980s and beyond.
- Use Google's Music to search for songs, artists, lyrics...be sure to enter the song title in quotation marks (e.g. "Battle Hymn of the Republic")
All of the above can be used with Windows and Macintosh computers.
