Lane ESD recognizes the importance of outside funding in shaping the future of education in Lane County. Our grant process was designed to strengthen the quality of our grant submissions, and support the programs which will best serve our students.

The flow chart depicts Lane ESD's grant process. The chart begins with a grant idea and concludes with the Grant Coordinator's submission of the grant to a potential funder. The grant idea's path will largely depend on its designation as a Level One (fast-track) or Level Two (high-impact) grant. All grant seekers must initially complete a Level One or Level Two grant form, provided below.

Lane ESD Grant Forms

Should you use a Level One or Level Two grant form? Keep in mind Level One (fast-track) grants must meet ALL the following criteria:

Is the grant:

  • $10,000 or under?
  • Funded by a foundation or non-for-profit (i.e. NOT state or federal)?
  • For a one-time funding opportunity (NOT multiple funding/report cycles)?
  • NOT asking for an increase in staff FTE or new staff hires?
  • NOT asking for a financial contribution from the district (match, etc.)?

Grants that do not meet all above criteria will be considered Level Two Grants.

Both Level One and Level Two grant forms should be completed in consultation with the appropriate program director. Completed forms should be forwarded to lesdchanges@lesd.k12.or.us.

Notes on Lane ESD's Grant Process

The creation of this grant process was informed by research on similar agencies throughout the country, as well as numerous conversations with Learning Support Services staff and management, Special Education managers, and Cabinet in Spring/Fall 2008. Lane ESD's goal is to encourage constructive grant-seeking by implementing a transparent and user-friendly process. We are eager to improve and streamline our system, and welcome your feedback.
