This website is designed to assist students and teachers to implement and complete the Lane ESD Regional Health Services Curriculum. The curriculum correlates with the National Health Science and Technology Education Standards (1998, nchste.org) which specify competencies of core knowledge and skills needed in all health care fields. The curriculum calls for strategies including career contextual learning which emphasizes the application of academics to the world beyond the classroom, opportunity for career exploration(s), and general employability and technology skills. Whether a student chooses to begin preparation for careers at the high school level or articulates into postsecondary programs the goal is for a seamless transition.
The content of this website ranges from foundational concepts of the curriculum design to specifics of instructional modules, learning activities and outcome assessment techniques. The website can be used to augment classroom activities and/or to provide independent learning activities to evidence student mastery of health career knowledge and skills.
